Hi, I's the Cheef Ejukator

On this blog we're not afraid to ask - and answer - the most difficult questions.  And this one is a real challenge: Should the President of Detroit's School Board be able to read and write?  That's a tricky one alright. And it's important because in terms of academic achievement Detroit ranks bottom, there are none lower, of any major US city. (Be sure to distinguish between the city – 95% black, and the suburbs, 90% white). We’re talking about the city here.

Not surprising when you consider that the President of the city’s School Board needed 15 years to graduate from Wayne State University. And then only after the ‘university’ effectively dropped the requirement to string together a coherent sentence in English. That be racis’, you see.

His talents as an educational pioneer can be gauged by the following emails.

“If you saw Sunday's Free Press that shown Robert Bobb the emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools, move Mark Twain to Boynton which have three times the number seats then students and was one of the reason's he gave for closing school to many empty seats.”

Here's another literary masterpiece contained in a mass e-mail from Aug. 11, 2009:

“Do DPS control the Foundation or outside group? If an outside group control the foundation, then what is DPS Board row with selection of is director? Our we mixing DPS and None DPS row's, and who is the watch dog?"
.
However, there is some good news. Mathis can read.

From the Detroit News: Can you read? "Yes, I can read.”
.

Whew, that's a relief,…. that the President of the Detroit School Board can read. Maybe because of that stunning accomplishment his peers (90% black) elected him president by a 10-1 vote over a University of Michigan academic officer.
.
Mathis and some of his supporters say his story is about someone who manages his limitations, just as others manage physical disabilities.
.
"Instead of telling them that they can't write and won't be anything, I show that cannot stop you," Mathis says. "If Detroit Public Schools can allow kids to dream, with whatever weakness they have, that's something. ...It's not about what you don't have. It's what you can do."

And this says it all. What he’s actually saying in his semi-literate way is that you don't bother trying to get a proper education. Too much trouble. Rather ‘dream’ about what you can achieve. You ‘achieve’ by getting your snout in the AA trough and playing the race card. Like forcing your university to drop the requirement for literacy. That's what Mathis did, and to that extent he is the role model he claims to be.

Pity Detroit.

Pity America.

Come to think of it, pity every white country

"I'm a horrible writer. I know that," says Mathis, 56, a lifelong resident of southwest Detroit. His difficulties with language were spotted as early as fourth grade...

Mathis is liked and defended by many of his peers, who cite his collegiality, lack of defensiveness and leadership as more important than his writing skills...

When I asked him about the grammatical deficiencies in his e-mails, he didn't waffle or grandstand, instead honestly answering questions about his difficulties in school."

If you know TNC politics, you know those positive traits are worth A LOT.

And they are traits more common to whites.

"I know he's a terrible writer. Oh wow, I've seen his e-mails," says Ida Byrd-Hill, a parent and activist who runs a nonprofit and is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ group.

"His job, though, is to represent the community. His lack of writing skills is prevalent in the community. If anybody does, he understands the struggles of what it's like to go through an institution and not be properly prepared."

He's black, but he won't chimp out.

This is EXACTLY the kind of guy whites should court.

Because of his struggles and perseverance, Mathis describes himself as a role model.

But is he?

Yes, Ms. Berman everybody knows you would prefer an aggressive neurotic with a big vocabulary.

Otis and the white man can get along just fine.

years back myself and another copper had a detail at my old high school Calumet in chicago, the reason for our presence was to make sure the lil nubians wouldnt murder each other after school. on a bet we asked each passing kid who was president of the US during the Eisenhower administration. the answers we got were astounding.Reagan, Elvis, Mayor Daley.and even one for Hitler, funny yes but pathetic. I wondered down the hall to where we used to keep the throphies foe city wide football wins, instead of the throphies that were all gone the display case contained RIP cards and jackets of kids who were murdered by other kids. scary isnt it. unfortunatley this is what you will be seeing in your country as the govt, lets more of these wild people come in.so you see Detroit dosent surprise me.John old rtd chicago copper.

Great. Let the blind lead the blind and let them all sink back into barbarism. They're nearly there in Detroit anyway.

Just hold on a couple more years and there'll be profitable barley fields yielding their rich harvest from what was once central Detroit. With a happy scythe-wielding class of laborers who doan kno no betta cuz dey neva lern 2 read o rite.

Potgeiter - you're probably correct. However, as usual whites will get the blame and get to pick up the tab.

The(only)good news is it's still difficult for chaps like this to become airline pilots. However, in this crazy world, it might not be too long until you hear, "Yo thiz yo cap'n strap up coz we all gonna be takin off now an shit"

I personally can't wait.

Don't write off the possibility of AA pilots. I understand that South African Airways wants to set up their own pilot test school because all the 'black diamonds' can't pass the international exams.

Faster your seat belt!

What's the problem? Almost nobody in Detroit can write better than that, so why not have him represent the city?

Everybody knows that Detroit's schools are holding tanks to keep gang members and other troublemakers off the streets during the daytime. Very little educating goes on there anyway.
